Customers rave about the #7 Fried Chicken Plate, a classic offer that comes complete with a generous serving of shrimp fried rice. This dish is a local legend, bringing nostalgic vibes to longtime patrons like Ryan H., who has been enjoying it since childhood. The shrimp fried rice, with its unique flavor and vibrant pink hue, is especially noteworthy. It’s a dish that has won countless hearts and promises an explosion of taste with every bite.
The customer service here is hailed as exemplary. As Michelle W. notes, visits are often met with friendly interactions and prompt service. This contributes significantly to the overall experience, as patrons like Eric P. affirm that while the atmosphere may be humble and in need of a makeover, the taste and quality of food outshine any aesthetic flaws.

It’s important to note, however, that Opelousas Point operates on a cash-only basis—a small inconvenience for some, yet a detail that adds to its rustic charm. Great customer service every time I visit. The food is always fresh and no extended wait times!

I've been eating at this place since I was a kid. Do not be turned off by the outside appearance. Yes, it is a hole-in-the-wall corner store, but Mr. Lee has been feeding the bellies of hungry folks for years. You will hear people order the "Number 7" and wonder what that is? Back in the day, they had a menu, and the #7 was the fried chicken plate with their unique shrimp fried rice. It is a classic and still a great price. I've lived all over the Gulf South, and anytime I was home I would make it a point to stop at "Opelousas" to get a #7 and a kabob, with a cold bottle of Big Shot. The shrimp fried rice is excellent, can't find it anywhere else and its made fresh. The fried chick is so crisp and juicy. The fried fish and shrimp is excellent as well. Same for meat pies and egg rolls. The Kabobs are my favorite. And if you are worried about how it looks, check the Louisiana Health department reports, Mr. Lee's place always ranked in good standings and checked regularly. Definitely a neighborhood jewel of the city.

Hood Classic..a lil run down looking on the inside a renovation is must needed. Food taste, quality, and portion are excellent. Service could be a little more friendly but silence is appreciated in lue of rudeness. High recommended to anyone looking for good food.

Best fried shrimp I've ever had. Classic NoLa convenience store with food in back. The stores not much to look at but the food is amazing.

Omg!!! I love the number 7 plate!!!! Sooooooo good! Im addicted! Large portions and excellent taste! Go get the number 7!! U won't be disappointed!

One of my guilty pleasures. Their fried rice is great, please don't be turned off but the unusual pink color. They serve a variety of corner store fare (wings, fried shrimp, mystery meat kabobs, mystery meat egg rolls, etc). They are reasonably priced but the prices aren't posted anywhere. Hot food orders are taken in the back of the store, and you can either order a combo plate (a previously mentioned "entree" plus rice) or my personal favorite, just fried rice. Great drink selection (read: they have every flavor of Big Shot and Arizona). Overall, it's just a regular corner store, but in the virtual food desert that is Algiers Point, their fried rice is a welcome addition. TIP: The closer it gets to closing (around 4:30-5) they only serve combo plates. Also, the store gets pretty crowded around the time school dismisses and around the lunch hour (12 - 1).

I hate cash only businesses! Gosh darn it...no one carries cash anymore! You prevent muggings and everything not having cash on you! Frickin' not wanting to report all your assets to the government people! Geesh! My rant is done. I was told that I needed to try this place because the #7 plate was a winner. Curious to know what a #7 was, I ventured to the establishment with my unofficial tour guide. This is not a restaurant. This is a typical New Orleans corner store. This is a clean hole in the wall place that serves general grocery items, but also has a kitchen in the back. This place is owned by some Asian people, so I did have high expectations for their stuff. I was given a plate that had some decent weight, and was brought back to a domicile to eat my goods. Plate opened, and what is before me? Golden, sizable wings and shrimp fried rice that both had a pleasant aroma. This could be an optical illusion, so I must further investigate. Tasting time...and you know what? This plate does not disappoint. Plenty of food for little amounts of money, no problem for me what so ever! They charge you $5 for about a half of dozen, plump, tasty wings, and a huge scoop of shrimp fried rice seasoned just right. You truly can beat that deal. I am glad my tour guide brought me to this place because it is well worth your time to visit this place. Parking may be a chore because this is a corner store. Besides that, bring your cash, get your food and enjoy. Only time will tell if I will give this place a 5th star. There are other items on the menu, but I may need a few more #7 plates before I give them a shot!
